Dallas Foster bonded with nature while growing up on a farm in northern Indiana. He graduated from Purdue University in 1975 with a degree in landscape management and design. After moving to Vincennes and working at Forbes Nursery and Landscape Company for four years, he formed Landscapes by Dallas Foster, Inc. in 1979. He continues to live in Vincennes with his wife, Susan, and their St. Bernard, Breeze.
Susan is celebrating her 20th year of ownership and with her keen business management skills, she also brings her own design visions to the company. Together, she and Dallas work to make their own home a showplace for the company. Early on, they realized what it meant to listen to their clients and give them exactly what they wanted. They use their own landscape as a testing ground for new ideas and schedule various groups to tour their gardens. In the past ten years, they have opened up their gardens on numerous occasions to serve in fundraising efforts for United Cerebral Palsy of Indiana. Susan's son, Brandon, has inspired them to help others that are less fortunate than he has been.
Brandon, who lives in Chicago, recently graduated from DePaul University in Chicago and is a computer technician for Hub International. He lives in the city with his adopted dog, Lisa. In addition to Susan's son, her daughter, Heather, also lives in Chicago with her husband, Matt, and their adopted dog, Lucy, and cat, Fletcher. Heather earned a nursing degree from Rush University and is now attending the University of Chicago to complete her master's degree to become a clinical nurse practitioner.
Dallas has three daughters Kendra, Kimberly and Lorrie. Kendra lives in Newburgh, Indiana with her husband, Eric. She earned a degree in music from the University of Evansville and now teaches music at Oak Hill Middle School in Evansville. Kimberly graduated from Ivy Tech in Evansville with a degree in interior design. She, her husband Terry and baby daughter Aylee live in Evansville, Indiana. Lorrie also graduated from Ivy Tech in Evansville with a degree in photography. She lives in Newburgh, Indiana and currently freelances and assists various photographers in the Evansville area.
Even though they devote much of their time to the family, businesses and their own landscapes, Dallas and Susan always make time to catch their beloved Cubs and Bears in action.
